Broken HDD's and Uni Update

Hi everyone, it's been a while.

Let's start off with information about my current computer state, lol.

My Failing HDD's (Hard Disk Drives)

It started last night when I was putting my pc to sleep (standby in preVista).  Well I noticed that the 2nd hdd in my pc (with vista + home director) was shutting down b4 it had finished, causing the disk usage to hit the roof, and the pc stop responding.  The first signs that the hdd was on the way out, lol.

Anyhow, thismorning came, turned my pc on, and it froze when booting into vista.  So restart and boot into xp, frooze on boot up.  So opened up the shuttle, and unplugged the 2nd 200gb WD hdd.  It's SATA so it can be plugged back in later.  Anyhow, XP booted then, all good

Onto Ebuyer.com to order 2 new HDD's tho.  I've brought 2 new Maxtor 250gb 16mb Cache 7200 RPM SATA2 hdd's. lol. £120 well spent there, that includes shipping and express delivery .  Would of been less if I had thought about it, and order 2 at the same time. lol

So they'll be here on Tuesday, so should have new HDD's on tuesday .  It'll mean that I'll have to try and get the information off the current HDD's tho.  So later 2nite, I'm going to backup my home directory with Symantec Ghost 8.0.  Only my home directory tho, since my TV programs are a secondary back up, lol.  And vista can be quickly reinstalled.

I have a ghost image of XP in my CD box, so that's all good, reduces the amount of installing.

What I'm going to do, is actually use SATA RAID this time, lol.  RAID 0 + 1 I think.  So 2x250gb = 500gb. 

• 60gb for Vista
• 40gb for XP media center 2005
• 40gb for nbH (my documents, home directory)
• 340gb for nbI (Applications, TV Programs, Games, CD Images, Films) {Really wat eva's left}
• Total: 500gb

I'll only be using XP for games, and to download new vista builds, lol.  My Documents are on the nbH drive, so they're safe, or should be.  Next year, I'll put 3 hdd's in my shuttle I think.  Since the shuttle I'm looking at has an exturnal SATA slot, lol.  So keep the primary HDD from my current PC, and I can use that to shaddow copy Vista, XP, and nbH, lol.  Keeping all of those documents safe.  I can then just run out with that hdd in a fire, lol.

Telewest Broadband + Freeview

Yesterday I got a text and an email through from telewest after my 5th attempt at getting broadband in my house for next week.  The email came thru, saying my order had been processed, and the welcome pack sent All good on this front.

£20 per month for 2mb Broadband + Freeview.  If I can get the others in my house to chip in I'll upgrade the package to the 10mb one, for £35 per month, and charge them say £5 per month for the privilage.  Hopefully my student loan gets sorted out, otherwise I'll get into servious trouble, lol.

So Broadband is sorted, so u'll prob only see about 2 or 3 days worth or partial me being online.  I'll try and get on when I can, I'll use my PDA for WLM when I can, so u shouldn't see much loss of me on ur WLM list's.

Summery

So, I've broken my computer gain, lol, pretty much. and I've sorted out Telewest down at plymouth, I hope anyhow [yn]
